About this place
Built between 1597 and 1611 for wealthy merchant Sir George Bruce, Culross Palace is a merchant's house in the Royal Burgh of Culross on the Fife coast.
The building survives largely intact and retains original painted timber ceilings, widely regarded as remarkable domestic survivals.
The National Trust for Scotland has cared for the palace for many decades.
The surrounding burgh is Scotland's most complete example of a burgh of the 17th and 18th centuries, making Culross an unusually coherent place to visit.
