About this place
Dunvegan Castle has been the seat of Clan MacLeod for over 800 years, making it one of the longest continuously inhabited castles in Scotland.
It stands on a sea loch on the Isle of Skye, in the Highland region.
The castle holds the Fairy Flag, a fragment of silk believed to date from between the 4th and 7th centuries, which the MacLeods have kept for generations.
Dunvegan remains independently managed, and its official site at dunvegancastle.com carries current visitor information.
