History
A girls' school occupied the house from 1948. When Joanna Shipp acquired the property in 1967, it became Grittleton House School, operating until 2016. The house is traditionally associated with Joseph Neeld, a wealthy 19th-century landowner and MP. It has since passed into private hands as a wedding and events venue.
Architecture
The house is Grade II* listed and was built primarily between 1832 and 1856, spanning the Georgian-to-Victorian transition period. It retains original features including a grand double staircase.
