In 1723, George Frideric Handel moved into 25 Brook Street in Mayfair, and lived there until his death in 1759.
Handel Hendrix House is a museum spread across two adjoining Georgian townhouses in central London, one of them Handel's former home and the other, two centuries later, Jimi Hendrix's.
The rooms have been restored to something close to their eighteenth-century appearance, with harpsichords and other period instruments on show.
The museum opened in 2001 and expanded into Hendrix's former flat at 23 Brook Street in 2016.

Handel settled in London in 1712 and took British citizenship in 1727, renting 25 Brook Street from 1723 and composing much of his later output there. The house opened as a museum in 2001. In 2016 it expanded to include the upper floors of 23 Brook Street, where Jimi Hendrix kept a flat in the late 1960s, and the museum took its current name.
Architecture
The two houses are typical Georgian terraced townhouses built in the 1720s, and the museum occupies the first and second floors of both 23 and 25 Brook Street.
Worth knowing
Two very different musicians, born more than two centuries apart, lived on the same short stretch of Brook Street: Handel composed there in the 1740s, and Jimi Hendrix rented the flat next door in 1968 and 1969.
