About this place
Parham House was built in 1577, during the reign of Elizabeth I, and ranks among the finest Elizabethan manor houses in England.
It sits within a deer park in the heart of West Sussex, surrounded by gardens that include a four-acre walled enclosure.
The Pearsons acquired the house in 1922, and the Hon.
Clive Pearson and his wife Alicia spent over forty years restoring it and assembling the collection of portraits, needlework, and furniture that fills the rooms today.
In 1996, ownership passed to the Parham Park Trust, a charitable trust that continues to care for the property.
The great hall retains its original Elizabethan layout, and the collection built up by the Pearsons through the twentieth century remains largely intact.
