About this place
Pencarrow House is a Georgian mansion in Cornwall, built in the 1760s by Sir John Molesworth, the 4th baronet.
Construction was completed after his death by his son, the 5th baronet, and the family later took the hyphenated Molesworth-St Aubyn name in 1844.
The same family still owns and lives in the house today, making it a rare example of an ancestral home continuously held across many generations.
The woodland gardens are well regarded and include a notable collection of around 160 species of specimen conifers, with a long-standing aim to grow a specimen of every conifer hardy enough for the British climate.
Pencarrow is independently run and open to the public.
