About this place
Scampston Hall is a late seventeenth-century country house in North Yorkshire, close to Malton.
Thomas Leverton remodelled it between around 1795 and 1803, giving it the restrained Regency character it retains today.
The Legard family have owned the estate for generations and continue to do so.
The walled garden was redesigned by Piet Oudolf in the late 1990s and is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of his perennial planting style in Britain.
