Sennowe Park is a Grade II* listed historic house in Norfolk, and a member of Historic Houses. Read about its history, architecture and gardens, plus how to visit and what's nearby.
About Sennowe Park
Sennowe Park stands near the village of Guist in Norfolk, a large Edwardian country house set in sweeping parkland.
In 1898 it was bought by Thomas Albert Cook, grandson of Thomas Cook, founder of the travel firm Thomas Cook and Son, who commissioned Norwich architect George Skipper to remodel it on a grand scale.
The house is still owned by his descendants and is not open to the public, though it hosts weddings and events.
Its copper-topped clock tower and orangery make it one of the county's more theatrical country house silhouettes.

The original house on the site was built in 1774 by Thomas Wodehouse, who had inherited the estate from his aunt Mary Bacon in 1760. It passed out of the Wodehouse family in 1850, was rebuilt for the Morse-Boycott family by architect Decimus Burton, and then belonged to subsequent owners before Thomas Albert Cook bought it in 1898 and commissioned Norwich architect George Skipper to enlarge it substantially.
Architecture of Sennowe Park
The house, its clock tower and stables are all Grade II* listed, reflecting George Skipper's extensive Edwardian remodelling of the earlier Georgian structure for the Cook family after 1898.
Worth knowing
The hall has been used as a filming location for Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot television series. Its owner's family is directly descended from Thomas Cook, founder of the modern package holiday.
Gardens & grounds at Sennowe Park
