About this place

Stanway House is a Jacobean manor in the Cotswolds village of Stanway, Gloucestershire, built in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, with major elements including the gatehouse and south front completed through around 1640.

The house has been in the ownership of the Tracy and Charteris families for around five hundred years, passing through inheritance rather than sale.

Its most remarkable feature is the fountain in the grounds, which at 300 feet is said to be the tallest gravity-fed fountain in the world.

The house opens to the public on a limited number of days each year.
