About this place

The same family has lived at Stonor Park for over 850 years, making it one of the longest continuously inhabited houses in England.

The house sits in a fold of the Chiltern Hills in Oxfordshire, and its architecture reflects centuries of gradual change rather than a single grand building campaign.

St Edmund Campion sheltered here in 1581, using a hidden press to print his Catholic tract before his arrest.

The house and gardens are open to the public on selected days throughout the year.
