About The Courts Garden
The Courts Garden in Holt, near Trowbridge, occupies about seven acres around a Georgian house that remains private.
The National Trust has managed it since 1943.
The garden itself is the main draw: formal herbaceous borders, a lily pond called the Dye Pool, and a small arboretum.
The name reflects Holt's wool-trading past, when clothiers would settle disputes here during the town's prosperous days as a textile centre.

The garden takes its name from a local tradition that clothiers once settled trade disputes here, when Holt was a centre of the wool industry. Grade II listed, it has been owned by the National Trust since 1943. The house beside it remains private.
Architecture of The Courts Garden
The garden surrounds a Georgian house not open to the public. The planting forms the main point of interest rather than any single structure.
