About Whitmore Hall
Whitmore Hall is a Grade I listed manor house at Whitmore in North Staffordshire, built in the Carolean style and still home to the Cavenagh-Mainwaring family.
The estate's stable block, older than the hall itself, survives with its original cobbled floor and nine carved Elizabethan oak stalls.
The property is open for pre-booked guided tours on two days per week between May and August.
Beyond the house, the wider estate includes parkland and Whitmore Lakes.

The hall was encased in red brick and completed around 1676, during the reign of Charles II. The original timber-framed structure may be earlier. The stable block predates the main house, with Elizabethan oak stalls suggesting an earlier phase of building on the site. The family continues to manage the wider Whitmore Estate.
Architecture of Whitmore Hall
The hall is a small but complete example of Carolean manor house architecture, Grade I listed for its outstanding interest. Its stable block, with a cobbled ground floor and nine carved Elizabethan oak stalls, is a rare survival in its own right.
Gardens & grounds at Whitmore Hall
The grounds sit within the wider Whitmore Estate, alongside parkland and Whitmore Lakes.
