About this place
Dalemain has been home to the same family since 1679, one of the longer continuous private occupancies in England.
The house sits near Penrith in Cumbria, and its exterior presents a striking Georgian façade that conceals a much older medieval and Tudor core.
The walled gardens are particularly well regarded and draw visitors in their own right.
Dalemain is also the headquarters of the World Marmalade Awards, an annual competition that has grown to attract entries from dozens of countries.
