About this place
Farnborough Hill in Hampshire became a school in 1927 when the Religious of Christian Education order purchased the house and grounds.
The order had been founded in 1889 and chose this Grade I listed property, set within expansive parkland, as their new home.
Before the school arrived, Empress Eugénie, widow of Napoleon III, lived at the house in the late nineteenth century.
She commissioned Farnborough Abbey nearby as a mausoleum for her husband and their son, and remained connected to the area until her death in 1920.
The property now operates as a Roman Catholic day school for girls aged 11 to 18, and is used for filming, private events, and corporate hospitality.
