About this place
Gilmerton House stands in the East Lothian countryside near North Berwick.
A family home since the 1600s, it is now run for private stays, weddings and corporate retreats rather than as a conventional visitor attraction.
Its setting on Scotland's Golf Coast has made it a favoured base for golfers.
Access is by private hire through the estate directly.
History
Gilmerton House has belonged to the Kinloch family since the 1600s, making it one of the longer-held private estates in East Lothian. It has passed down through successive generations rather than changing hands commercially, and the current custodians continue to live on and manage the estate.
Worth knowing
Gilmerton House has hosted golfing groups and Ryder Cup teams as part of its golfing tradition.
