About this place

Glemham Hall was built around 1560 by the de Glemham family and stands in about 300 acres of parkland outside Little Glemham in Suffolk.

The house mixes its Elizabethan origins with later Georgian remodelling, and it is Grade I listed.

A long drive sweeps up to the front of the hall, which sits within a wider working estate.

House and garden tours run on selected days each year.

History

The de Glemham family built the hall around 1560, and the estate has passed through several owners since, with the house gaining Georgian-era alterations to its original Elizabethan structure. Glemham Hall is now owned by Thomas Hope-Cobbold, who inherited the estate from his father in 2020.

Architecture

Glemham Hall combines an Elizabethan core with later Georgian remodelling of its facade and interiors, a mix that earned the building its Grade I listing.

Worth knowing

The parkland hosts annual events including the FolkEast music festival and the Classics at Glemham car show, and the hall is regularly hired out for film and photography shoots.

Gardens & grounds

The gardens around the hall are opened to visitors alongside the house on tour days, set within the wider 300-acre parkland.
