About this place
Leighton Hall near Carnforth in north Lancashire has been owned by the Gillow family, famous for their Lancaster furniture-making dynasty, since 1822.
The house sits in a bowl of parkland with views toward the Lake District and the Lakeland fells visible on the horizon.
Its Gothic Revival façade, added in the early nineteenth century, gives the building a striking silhouette for a country house of its size.
The hall is independently run and open to visitors during the summer months.
