Lytham Hall stands on a site occupied since the 12th century by a Benedictine priory on the Lancashire coast near Lytham St Annes.
The Jacobean manor house begun in the 1620s was substantially remodelled from 1757 to 1764 by the architect John Carr of York, who transformed it into the Palladian mansion visitors see today.
The Clifton family owned the estate for close to four centuries before it passed into charitable trust.
It is the only Grade I listed building in the Borough of Fylde.
The hall sits within around 80 acres of wooded parkland, including a formal south prospect garden, and is open to visitors.

The site was occupied from the 12th century by a Benedictine priory. Cuthbert Clifton acquired the land in 1606 and built a Jacobean manor house in the 1620s; elements of that structure remain within the present building. In 1752 Thomas Clifton commissioned the architect John Carr of York to remodel the house into the Palladian mansion that stands today, with construction running from 1757 to 1764. The Clifton family remained connected with the estate for close to four centuries before it passed into charitable trust care.
