About Penrose, Cornwall
Loe Pool, at the heart of the Penrose estate near Helston, is the largest natural freshwater lake in Cornwall.
The 1,536-acre estate wraps around it with woodland tracks, open parkland and a run of coastline reaching towards Gunwalloe.
The National Trust has managed the land since 1974, though Penrose House itself remains in private hands.
Dogs are welcome on the estate, but swimming and boating are not permitted on the pool or at Loe Bar.
