About this place

Penshurst Place has been the home of the Sidney family since 1552, one of the longer records of continuous family occupation among historic houses in England.

The medieval manor house sits in the village of Penshurst in the Weald of Kent.

Its Great Hall, built in 1341, is among the best-preserved examples of fourteenth-century domestic architecture in the country.

The house and its formal walled gardens are open to the public seasonally; check the official website for exact dates and admission details.
