About this place

Scone Palace in Perthshire has been the seat of the Murray family, the Earls of Mansfield, since the early seventeenth century.

The Gothic Revival house was built from around 1802 and was substantially complete by 1812.

It stands on a site of considerable royal significance.

For centuries, the Moot Hill at Scone was where Scottish kings were crowned, among them Macbeth and Robert the Bruce.

The palace remains privately owned and managed by the family today.
