Five National Trust places sit inside the Chilterns National Landscape boundary, from Whipsnade Tree Cathedral in the north to Nuffield Place in the south. Three of them are within four miles of a mainline railway station, and three have a café.

Around Whipsnade

Whipsnade Tree Cathedral: Trees, hedges and shrubs planted in the form of a medieval cathedral. Pitstone Windmill: A rare surviving example of an early post mill, set in the Buckinghamshire countryside. Hughenden Manor: Country home of Victorian statesman Benjamin Disraeli, with a red-brick manor, formal gardens, parkland and more than 600 acres of woodland and farmland. The three are about 18 miles apart from first to last, so they fit into one day.

Around West Wycombe

West Wycombe Park House: A Palladian family home with historic village and surrounding hill, associated with the Dashwood family. Nuffield Place: The former home of 20th-century philanthropist William Morris, Lord Nuffield, preserved with its domestic interiors and personal collections. The two are about 10 miles apart from first to last, so they fit into one day.

By train

Pitstone Windmill is 2.2 miles from Tring and Hughenden Manor is 1.5 miles from High Wycombe. Distances are in a straight line, so allow longer on foot or by taxi or bus.
