Isle of Wight National Landscape National Trust place, numbered as in the list below

Five National Trust places sit inside the Isle of Wight National Landscape boundary, from Newtown Old Town Hall in the north to Mottistone Manor in the south. One of them is within four miles of a mainline railway station, and two have a café.

Around Newtown

Newtown Old Town Hall: A wildlife-rich nature reserve with an Old Town Hall surviving from Newtown's medieval past. Mottistone Manor: Gardens in a sheltered valley surrounded by rolling downland on the Isle of Wight. The Needles Batteries: Victorian coastal defences and a later rocket-testing site above the Needles Rocks. The three are about 11 miles apart from first to last, so they fit into one day.

Around Bembridge

Culver Battery: A 1906 coastal battery built to guard the Solent approaches, with surviving gun emplacements from its First and Second World War use. The Needles: Open chalk downland and sheer cliffs overlooking the Needles rocks at the western tip of the Isle of Wight. The two are about 22 miles apart from first to last, so they fit into one day.

By train

Culver Battery is 2.0 miles from Brading. Distances are in a straight line, so allow longer on foot or by taxi or bus.

Before you go

Many places open fewer days or close for part of the winter, so check opening times before you travel.
